Families flocked Luton’s Lewsey Park last week for the bi-annual Inspire Eid Festival to celebrate Eid al-Adha.
The community event, presented by Inspire FM with Luton Rising, took place on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 June.
Organisers wanted to make the Eid celebration affordable for all with heavily discounted funfair rides, free activities, international food and family entertainment.
Mohammed Tariq, festival manager of the two-day event, said: “The atmosphere was buzzing on both days and it was great to see so many families enjoying the celebration.
“Inspire FM is focused on serving the community and we’re thrilled to have been able to do that through making the Eid celebration affordable and open to all.
“I would like to thank our fantastic team of volunteers, supporters and attendees for making this event possible.”
Working with local schools, Luton Foodbank and The Chalk Hills Academy, Inspire FM gave 1,000 free ride tokens and Eid gifts to families facing financial hardship as part of its ‘Every Child Smiles’ project.
Salma Khan, Project Coordinator at Luton Foodbank, said: “Eid is about celebrating with the people we love regardless of one’s financial situation.
“Luton Foodbank is so pleased to have been part of this project to ensure everyone in our town can enjoy the Eid celebration.”
The festival was supported by key sponsors Mary Seacole Housing Association and Liberty Law Solicitors.
