A knife crime campaigner from the town was a number of local heroes honoured at last week’s Luton & Bedfordshire Community Awards.
Roseann Taylor collected the Winner of Winners Award for her work in raising awareness of the issue.
Her son Azaan was tragically killed in March 2018 in a high-profile incident. She has since spoken out against knife crime in her campaign work nationally.
The awards celebrate the unsung heroes in our diverse and multicultural community and applaud those that seek to make the lives of others easier, happier and more fulfilled.
Mostaque Koyes, founder of the Community Awards, said: "The awards are an opportunity to hear about the people that make our town a great place to live.
“Each and every person that was nominated makes a valuable contribution, and the judging panel had a difficult task in selecting the winners in each category.
"In particular, we wish to acknowledge the efforts of Roseann Taylor for receiving her award. Her story is an inspiration to us all, and we wish her every success in her campaigning efforts in the town."
The awards, a celebration of the good work going on in our town, marked their tenth year by continuing their pledge to support local causes.
This year, the awards lent their backing to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital Helipad Appeal.
