Inspired amount raised at family fun day

Disney characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse entertained a crowd of more than 2,000 determined to enjoy a family fun day at Dallow Community Centre in Luton – in spite of the weather.
Indoor stalls at the event organised by Inspire FM did a roaring trade – particulary those selling Asian clothes and toys – as no-one wanted to stand outside in the rain.
Visitors were also enticed by the aroma of exotic dishes from around the world, including China and Japan. There was tasty Caribbean cuisine as well as fresh biryani and pakora, in addition to vegetarian specialities.
Spokesman Mohammed Tariq said: “The community really enjoyed themselves judging by the smiles on all their faces.
“And in spite of the spring showers and our inability to make the most of many of the outdoor activities, we still managed to raise almost £2,000 for charity.”
